The Pink Palace — the domed Indo-Saracenic residence of the Nawabs of Dhaka, rebuilt in its present form from 1872 on the Buriganga riverfront at Kumartoli, wrecked by the great tornado of 1888, rebuilt grander, and now a branch museum of the Bangladesh National Museum. Its rose-pink facade above the river ghats is Old Dhaka's defining image; inside, twenty-plus restored rooms carry the furniture, portraits and society history of the family that ran Dhaka through the late colonial century.
