Aiguebelle National Park
A Quebec Provincial National Park (Sepaq, 1985) Of Hills, Lakes And Boreal Forest On The Canadian Shield, Known For Canoe Camping, Red Spotted Trout And Wide Views From Short Climbs. Remote And Quiet, Far From The Big Cities. A Sepaq Park, Not A Parks Canada Park. · Mont-Brun, Quebec
Aiguebelle National Park is a Quebec provincial park run by Sepaq, not a Parks Canada park, so Parks Canada passes do not apply. It lies in Abitibi-Temiscamingue in north-west Quebec, about 40 km from Rouyn-Noranda, and it is a remote park of rounded hills, long narrow lakes and boreal forest on the Canadian Shield. Its reputation rests on canoe-camping: you paddle from lake to lake and sleep on quiet shores, with short climbs to ridges that give wide views over a forest that seems to have no end. This is not a park for quick sightseeing. The big cities are far away, and Amos and Val-d'Or are farther still, so you commit to the trip. It suits canoeists, campers and patient walkers who like silence. Mosquitoes and black flies are heavy in early summer, and the season is short. Allow at least a day for the hikes, or two to four days for a proper canoe-camping route. Confirm all Sepaq rules and fees.
Wilderness park of hills and lakes in Abitibi-Temiscamingue in north-west Quebec, about 40 km from Rouyn-Noranda, with a visitor centre, a campground and canoe-camping routes, Mont-Brun, Quebec, Canada
Aiguebelle runs on a short Sepaq season, with the welcome centre, campground and canoe-camping services open mainly from late spring or early summer to early autumn, and longer hours in July and August. Outside that period, many services close and winter access is limited, though some trails may be used for snowshoeing or skiing when conditions allow. Because the park is remote, check season dates, camping availability and the state of trails and portages with Sepaq before you travel. Staff hours are limited, so arrive in daylight and register as required. Mobile coverage can be weak, so save booking details offline and tell someone your route and your planned return time.
