Alaska Botanical Garden
Nonprofit Botanical Garden In Far North Bicentennial Park · Anchorage, Alaska
A non-profit garden of about 110 acres set in the boreal forest of Anchorage's Far North Bicentennial Park, with the Chugach Mountains rising behind. Founded in the 1990s, it shows what grows in a subarctic climate: a rock garden of alpine plants, a herb garden, perennial borders bursting with peonies, delphiniums and poppies during the short, bright summer, and a children's garden. The Lowenfels Family Nature Trail loops about a mile through birch and spruce to Campbell Creek, where salmon run in late summer. In winter the garden hosts an ice sculpture competition and a holiday light display. Moose and bears live in the surrounding forest. For summer 2026, from 24 May to 14 September, it opened Monday to Saturday 10 AM-7 PM and Sunday noon-7 PM, with admission $14 for adults, $10 for students, seniors and military, and free for children under six.
