Alki Beach Park
Beach · Seattle, Washington
A two-and-a-half-mile stretch of sand and seawall promenade in West Seattle, and the place the city's founders landed in November 1851 - the Denny Party came ashore here before moving across to the deeper harbour at what is now Pioneer Square. It has a small replica Statue of Liberty, a monument marking the landing, and a view straight across Elliott Bay at the downtown skyline with the Olympics behind. In summer it is the closest thing Seattle has to a boardwalk.
