All Saints' Chapel
Church · Sewanee, Tennessee
The collegiate Gothic chapel at the centre of the University of the South at Sewanee, begun in 1904 and not finished until 1959, built of the local sandstone the whole campus is made from. It seats around a thousand under a vaulted ceiling with a long run of stained glass, and the Shapard Tower beside it carries a carillon of dozens of bells that is rung across the plateau. It is a working chapel on a working campus rather than a monument, and visitors are welcome in it almost every day.
