Allen Fieldhouse
Arena · Lawrence, Kansas
The home of Kansas basketball since 1955, and by most reckonings the loudest and most atmospheric building in American college sport — a barrel-roofed hall on Naismith Drive with a banner over the entrance reading "Pay Heed, All Who Enter: Beware of The Phog". The programme has the most wins in the history of the sport and its first coach was James Naismith, who invented basketball and is the only Kansas coach with a losing record. Next door, the DeBruce Center holds the original typed rules he wrote in 1891.
1651 Naismith Drive, Lawrence, Kansas, 66045, United States
Event days for games; otherwise the Booth Family Hall of Athletics inside the building is generally open and FREE on non-event weekdays — check the athletics site, as it closes for games and events. The DeBruce Center next door, holding the original 1891 rules of basketball, is free and keeps its own hours. Basketball season runs November to March.
