Four miles of Atlantic beach and a tidal salt marsh on the barrier island facing St. Augustine, sitting on top of the coquina quarry that built the Castillo de San Marcos. The Spanish cut the stone here from the 1670s onward, and the quarry pits are still visible in the woods behind one of the busiest campgrounds in the Florida system.
