Aragon Ballroom
Music Venue · Chicago, Illinois
A 1926 dance hall in Uptown built to look like a Moorish village courtyard — balconies, tiled arches, a domed ceiling painted as a night sky with real stars projected onto it. It held eight thousand dancers a night in the big-band era, it has been a rock venue since the seventies, and its acoustics are so notoriously bad that Chicago has called it the Aragon Brawlroom for fifty years.
