Ark Encounter
Specialty Museum · Williamstown, Kentucky
A full-scale reconstruction of Noah's Ark built to the dimensions given in Genesis — around 510 feet long and seven storeys high — standing in a field off Interstate 75 at Williamstown, and generally described as the largest timber-frame structure in the world. Inside are three decks of exhibit halls. It is operated by Answers in Genesis, a Christian apologetics ministry, and it presents a young-earth creationist account of the flood and of natural history as fact throughout; visitors expecting a natural history museum or a neutral treatment should know that going in. As a piece of construction it is genuinely extraordinary, and it draws a national audience.
