Arkansas Air and Military Museum

An Aviation And Military Museum At Drake Field, Fayetteville, Housed In A 1940s All Wood Hangar Built During The Second World War One Of The Few Surviving Structures Of Its Type. · Fayetteville, Arkansas

The museum sits at Fayetteville's municipal airfield in a hangar built of wood during the Second World War, when steel was needed elsewhere - a surviving example of a structure that was meant to be temporary and mostly was. Inside is a collection of aircraft, many of them airworthy or restored to be, alongside military vehicles and material covering Arkansas's service history. Because it is a working airfield the aircraft sometimes fly, which is not true of most aviation museums. It is modest, it is run largely by volunteers and enthusiasts, and it is a better hour than its size suggests if anyone on duty is willing to talk.

4290 South School Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas, 72701, United States

Open on daytime hours most days, with reduced or variable days depending on volunteer availability and closure on major holidays. Admission is ticketed at a modest rate. Because it is on an active airfield, some areas can close at short notice. Fly-in days and events are the best time to visit and are published in advance. Confirm hours before travelling.
