Artpark

Amphitheater · Lewiston, New York

⚠ A 150-ACRE STATE PARK BUILT AROUND AN OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATRE on the Niagara Gorge at Lewiston, seven miles downriver from the falls. ⚠ IT WAS FOUNDED IN 1974 AS AN EXPERIMENT — a state park devoted to the arts, with artists in residence making work in the landscape — and it is now primarily a summer concert venue with the gorge as its backdrop.

450 South Fourth Street, Lewiston, New York, 14092, United States

⚠ SEASONAL — the concert season runs roughly JUNE TO SEPTEMBER and there is no programme outside it. ⚠ CHECK THE CALENDAR FIRST, AND LOOK FOR THE TUESDAY SERIES: it has long been FREE OR VERY CHEAP and is the best value in western New York — a summer evening concert above the Niagara Gorge for little or nothing. Confirm current arrangements, which have changed over the years. ⚠ PARKING IS CHARGED SEPARATELY FOR MAJOR CONCERTS and catches people out — budget for it on top of the ticket. ⚠ THE PARK AND THE NIAGARA GORGE TRAILS ARE FREE AND OPEN when nothing is programmed; confirm whether a state park vehicle fee applies. ⚠ IT IS SEVEN MILES DOWNRIVER FROM NIAGARA FALLS at Lewiston, and the gorge here is quieter and wilder than the falls overlook — if the falls are heaving, come here. ⚠ CONCERTS RUN IN RAIN; the venue is outdoors and exposed.
