Autry Museum of the American West

Specialty Museum · Los Angeles, California

A museum in Griffith Park founded in 1988 by the singing cowboy Gene Autry, which has since become something considerably more serious than that origin suggests. Its merger with the Southwest Museum brought in one of the largest collections of Native American material in the United States, and the galleries now hold the myth and the history against each other deliberately.

4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles, California, 90027, United States

Generally Wednesday to Sunday, 10:00 to 16:00. Closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Free on the second Tuesday.
