Bahia Honda State Park

Florida State Park · Big Pine Key, Florida

The best sand beach in the Florida Keys, and the only place in the chain with genuinely deep water close to shore. Repeatedly ranked among the best beaches in America, it also carries the wrecked span of Henry Flagler's Overseas Railroad — a rusting steel trestle from 1912 standing beside the modern highway, cut and abandoned after the 1935 hurricane ended the railway forever.

36850 Overseas Highway, Big Pine Key, Florida, 33043, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. THE GATE CLOSES WHEN THE CAR PARK FILLS. Sections have reopened in stages since Hurricane Irma in 2017.
