Balmorhea State Park

Subnational Park · Toyahvale, Texas

A 46-acre park in the West Texas desert built around San Solomon Springs, whose artesian flow fills the world's largest spring-fed swimming pool — 1.3 acres, 3.5 million gallons, up to thirty feet deep, and a constant 72 to 76 degrees year-round. The flow is so strong that no chlorination is needed, and swimmers share the water with two endangered desert fish found nowhere else. The Civilian Conservation Corps hand-cut the stone in the 1930s.
