Baltimore Inner Harbor
Promenade · Baltimore, Maryland
The waterfront at the head of the Patapsco that Baltimore rebuilt from derelict wharves in the 1970s and 1980s, and which became the template every American city copied — Boston's Faneuil Hall, New York's South Street Seaport and a dozen more were built on the same model by the same developer. A brick promenade runs the whole way round, with the aquarium on one pier and a squadron of historic warships on another. The retail heart of it has struggled badly in recent years and is being reworked, which is worth knowing before you come for the shops.
201 East Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland, 21202, United States
A public waterfront, open at all times, year round, and FREE to walk. Museums, ships and attractions on the piers keep their own daytime hours and charge separately. The water taxi runs a seasonal and weather-dependent schedule. ⚠ THE HARBORPLACE RETAIL PAVILIONS have been largely vacant for several years and are undergoing redevelopment — do not plan a visit around shopping here.
