Barclays Center
Arena · Brooklyn, New York
Brooklyn's 19,000-seat arena, opened 2012 at the junction of Atlantic and Flatbush Avenues — home of the BROOKLYN NETS and the NEW YORK LIBERTY, and wrapped in a weathering-steel lattice that was deliberately made to rust. ⚠ IT WAS BUILT OVER A RAIL YARD AFTER ONE OF THE MOST BITTERLY CONTESTED DEVELOPMENT FIGHTS IN NEW YORK HISTORY, and that argument is part of what the building is.
620 Atlantic Avenue, Brooklyn, New York, 11217, United States
A working arena — open on event days only, with no general public access to the bowl outside events. ⚠ THE ATLANTIC AVENUE PLAZA AND THE OCULUS CANOPY are public space and free to walk under at any time. Brooklyn Nets (NBA) play roughly October to April; NEW YORK LIBERTY (WNBA) play roughly May to September and are substantially cheaper. Concerts and boxing run year round. ⚠ NINE SUBWAY LINES AND THE LIRR ARRIVE DIRECTLY UNDERNEATH — driving is the wrong choice and parking was deliberately limited. ⚠ Bag rules are set by the event, not the venue.
