Battleship Missouri Memorial
National Historic Landmark · Honolulu, Hawaii
An Iowa-class battleship completed in 1944 and the last battleship commissioned by the United States, now a museum ship moored on Ford Island. She fought at Iwo Jima and Okinawa and shelled the Japanese home islands, and on 2 September 1945 the Japanese Instrument of Surrender was signed on her quarterdeck, formally ending the Second World War. She is berthed a short distance from the sunken Arizona, so that the ship where the war ended looks down on the ship where it began.
