Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens
Art Museum · Houston, Texas
Ima Hogg's house in River Oaks, given to the Museum of Fine Arts along with the American decorative arts collection she spent fifty years assembling — furniture, silver, ceramics and paintings from 1620 to 1876, shown in period rooms rather than cases. Fourteen acres of formal gardens run down to Buffalo Bayou around it.
6003 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas, 77007, United States
An MFAH property with its own admission, separate from the main museum — house visits are typically timed or guided rather than free-wandering, so check mfah.org before travelling. ⚠ FREE ON FAMILY DAYS, USUALLY THE THIRD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH, but the dates move — confirm on the calendar. ⚠ PARKING IS LIMITED. Free self-guided detective hunts for children aged 6-9 and 10-12.
