Beartown State Park

Nature Preserve · Hillsboro, West Virginia

A hundred and ten acres on the eastern summit of Droop Mountain where the Droop Sandstone has split into a maze of deep crevices, overhanging cliffs and house-sized blocks, all of it covered in moss and rhododendron. A half-mile boardwalk winds through the gaps rather than over them. The whole visit takes forty minutes and there is nothing else in the state that looks remotely like it.

Beartown Road, Hillsboro, West Virginia, 24946, United States
