Beaver Dunes Park
Beaver Dunes Park: A Town Of Beaver Municipal Dune Riding And Camping Park, Formerly A State Park; About 300 Acres Of Open Sand Within 520 Acres · Beaver, Oklahoma
About 520 acres of sand dunes on the Beaver River in the Oklahoma Panhandle, the northern cousin of Little Sahara, where sand blown out of the river bed has piled into hills open to off-road riding. It is no longer a state park: it is Beaver Dunes Park, run by the Town of Beaver, so the Oklahoma parking pass does not apply here at all. Riding runs from 7 AM to 11 PM on about 300 acres of open sand, an off-road permit costs $10 a vehicle a day or $200 a person for a calendar year, and there are campgrounds at Pioneer and Hackberry, a cabin, a picnic shelter and fishing on Beaver Lake. This is empty country, three hours from any city, and the sky at night is as dark as anywhere in the state. Riding permits, fees and opening arrangements are set locally rather than by the state park system, so they change: confirm before towing a trailer out here.
