Beer Can House
Modern Monument · Houston, Texas
A bungalow on Malone Street that John Milkovisch, a retired upholsterer for the railroad, spent eighteen years covering in flattened beer cans — an estimated fifty thousand of them, siding the walls, hanging in curtains from the eaves and chiming in the wind. He said he was tired of mowing the lawn. It is now preserved as a work of American folk art.
