Bennett Spring State Park

Subnational Park · Lebanon, Missouri

A spring discharging around a hundred million gallons a day into the Niangua River, and the busiest trout park in Missouri - the state hatchery stocks the stream daily and, on opening day on 1 March, several thousand anglers stand shoulder to shoulder along it waiting for the siren. It is a genuinely peculiar spectacle and it is the reason the park exists in its current form. Outside the fishing it is a large, well-equipped Ozark park with a lodge, cabins and a good nature centre.
