Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park

Subnational Park · Mission, Texas

The headquarters of the World Birding Center, on 797 acres of surviving Rio Grande floodplain forest south of Mission — and the only Texas state park that bans private cars beyond the car park, because the birding matters more. Over 360 bird species and 250 butterfly species have been recorded here, more than twenty of them found nowhere else in the United States. You explore it on foot, by bicycle or on a free tram.
