Bethel Woods Center for the Arts

Amphitheater · Bethel, New York

An outdoor amphitheatre and museum built in 2006 on Max Yasgur's farm at Bethel, Sullivan County — THE ACTUAL SITE OF THE 1969 WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL, which did not happen in Woodstock and never had anything to do with it. The original bowl-shaped field where roughly 400,000 people gathered is preserved as open ground with a monument at its foot, and the museum on the hill above it is one of the better social-history museums in the state.

200 Hurd Road, Bethel, New York, 12720, United States

SEASONAL. The amphitheatre concert season runs roughly late spring to early autumn; the museum runs a longer but still not year-round season. THE GROUNDS AND THE 1969 FESTIVAL FIELD ARE FREE and open outside event hours. ⚠ THIS IS THE ACTUAL WOODSTOCK FESTIVAL SITE — the town of Woodstock is ninety minutes away and is not. ⚠ SEASONS AND HOURS WERE NOT VERIFIED FOR THIS FILE.
