Big Shoals State Park

Florida State Park · White Springs, Florida

The only whitewater rapids in Florida. When the Suwannee River runs at the right level it drops over a limestone shelf into a Class III rapid — the sole stretch of genuine whitewater in a state with no gradient to speak of — and when the level is wrong it is flat water and a bluff-top trail. Everything here depends on the river gauge.

11330 Southeast County Road 135, White Springs, Florida, 32096, United States

Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. The rapids form only within a narrow Suwannee River level window — check the USGS gauge at White Springs first.
