Blowing Rocks Preserve

Nature Preserve · Hobe Sound, Florida

The largest outcropping of Anastasia limestone on the United States Atlantic coast — a mile of black, pitted, wave-cut rock on Jupiter Island where the Florida shoreline briefly stops being sand. At high tide with an easterly wind, the sea forces up through holes in the rock and throws plumes of water fifty feet into the air, which is the entire reason the place has a name.

574 South Beach Road, Hobe Sound, Florida, 33455, United States

Open daily, generally 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The car park is very small and closes the preserve when full.
