Blue Spring Heritage Center
A Privately Run Heritage Garden And Natural Spring West Of Eureka Springs, On A Documented Trail Of Tears Campsite, With A Bluff Shelter Used By People For Several Thousand Years. The Spring Discharges Tens Of Millions Of Gallons A Day Into A Trout Filled Lagoon. · Eureka Springs, Arkansas
Blue Spring pours tens of millions of gallons a day out of a bluff west of Eureka Springs into a deep lagoon that is stocked with trout and is a startling blue-green. The site has been used for a very long time - there is a bluff shelter above the water with thousands of years of occupation behind it, and the spring is a documented campsite on the Trail of Tears, which the interpretation does not skip over. Around it a private owner has built terraced gardens, a wildflower meadow and a trail system, so the visit is half spring and half garden. It closes for the winter, which catches people out.
1537 County Road 210, Eureka Springs, Arkansas, 72632, United States
Strongly seasonal: open daily on daytime hours from roughly March to late November and closed through the winter. Admission is ticketed, with reductions for children and seniors. The gardens are at their best in spring and autumn and the site is largely outdoors, so weather governs the visit. Confirm the season before travelling - this is the most common wasted journey here.
