Blue Spring State Park
Florida State Park · Orange City, Florida
The largest winter refuge for West Indian manatees on the St. Johns River, where hundreds of animals crowd into the warm spring run whenever the river turns cold. A boardwalk follows the run from the river to the spring boil, and on a January morning it is possible to look down on more manatees at once than anywhere else in Florida. In summer the same water becomes one of the best swimming and snorkelling springs in the state.
2100 West French Avenue, Orange City, Florida, 32763, United States
Open 8:00 a.m. until sundown, 365 days a year. THE PARK CLOSES WHEN FULL, often before 10 a.m. in winter. Swimming closes whenever manatees are in the run.
