Seventeen and a half acres of themed gardens beside the Arkansas River in Wichita, close enough to the zoo and Old Cowtown to make an afternoon of all three. The Downing Children's Garden is the strongest part and one of the better children's gardens in the country; the Chinese Garden of Friendship and the seasonal butterfly house are the other two reasons to come. At Christmas the whole site is lit for Illuminations, which is when Wichita turns up in numbers.

Open daily with seasonal hours, longest April - October; reduced in winter. Modest admission with reductions; FREE parking. The butterfly house is seasonal and included in admission. Illuminations in December is separately ticketed with timed entry and sells out at weekends.
