Brandywine Battlefield Park
National Historic Landmark · Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania
The visitor site for the battle of 11 September 1777 — the largest land engagement of the American Revolution and the longest single day of fighting in the war, in which Howe outflanked Washington by marching around his right and opened the road to Philadelphia. The park preserves Washington's headquarters at the Benjamin Ring house and Lafayette's quarters at the Gideon Gilpin house, and it is honest that most of the actual battlefield lies beyond its boundary across private farmland — which makes the orientation here the point rather than the ground.
1491 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania, 19317, United States
A Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission site. Grounds free and open daily during daylight. Visitor centre and guided house tours run on reduced days, generally Thursday to Sunday from spring through autumn with partial winter closure — verify before travelling. Living history on scheduled weekends, concentrated around the September anniversary.
