Brandywine River Museum of Art

Art Museum · Chadds Ford, Pennsylvania

A nineteenth-century grist mill on the Brandywine at Chadds Ford, converted in 1971 into the definitive collection of three generations of Wyeths — the illustrator N.C. Wyeth, his son Andrew, and Andrew's son Jamie — along with Howard Pyle and the Brandywine School of American illustration that produced them. The galleries are glass-walled toward the river the paintings are of, and the museum also owns and opens the studios: N.C. Wyeth's, left as it was, and Andrew Wyeth's, opened to the public in 2012.
