Bridger-Teton National Forest
National Forest (Teton National Forest, 1908; Combined With Bridger National Forest In 1973) · Jackson, Wyoming
The national forest wrapped around Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park, stretching from the Teton and Gros Ventre wildernesses south along the Wyoming Range and east across the western slope of the Wind River Range. Much of what surrounds the parks is here: the Snake River Canyon whitewater, Granite Hot Springs, the Gros Ventre Slide of 1925, Teton Pass, Two Ocean Pass, the trailheads above Pinedale, and the Path of the Pronghorn, the first federally designated wildlife migration corridor in the United States. Its avalanche centre forecasts the backcountry around Jackson all winter. It covers about 3.4 million acres.
