Bristol Motor Speedway
Racing Circuit · Bristol, Tennessee
A half-mile concrete oval with banking so steep that the grandstands rise around it like a bowl, which is why NASCAR calls it the Last Great Colosseum. Cars run nose to tail at close to fifteen seconds a lap with nowhere to hide, and the September night race under the lights is one of the two or three tickets stock car racing sells itself on. Outside the racing season the track hosts a drive-through Christmas light display, and in 2016 it staged a college football game that set an NCAA attendance record.
151 Speedway Boulevard, Bristol, Tennessee, 37620, United States
Race weekends in spring and September, plus NHRA events at the adjoining dragway. Speedway In Lights drive-through display from November into early January. Track tours on most non-event days for a modest charge — check the calendar before travelling.
