Brooklyn Botanic Garden

Botanical Garden · Brooklyn, New York

Fifty-two acres beside Prospect Park, founded in 1910 on a former ash dump and laid out by the Olmsted Brothers. Its Japanese Hill-and-Pond Garden of 1915 was the first Japanese garden built in an American public garden and is still considered the finest, and its Cherry Esplanade draws a crowd every spring that behaves less like a garden visit than a festival.
