Brooklyn Bridge Park

City Park · Brooklyn, New York

Eighty-five acres of former shipping piers on the East River below Brooklyn Heights, converted from derelict cargo terminal into parkland from 2010 — six piers, each given a different job, with the Manhattan skyline directly across the water. ⚠ THE PIERS ARE THE ORIGINAL STRUCTURES: the park is built on the concrete decks and timber piles of a working port that closed in the 1980s.

334 Furman Street, Brooklyn, New York, 11201, United States

FREE and open daily, generally from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., with individual piers and facilities keeping their own hours. ⚠ JANE'S CAROUSEL charges a small per-ride fee and runs on a SEASONAL schedule. ⚠ FREE VOLUNTEER-RUN KAYAKING operates from the boathouse in summer on a first-come basis — check current provision. Free films and concerts run on Pier 1 in summer. NYC Ferry stops at Pier 1 and at DUMBO. ⚠ The park is fully exposed and there is very little shade or shelter on the piers.
