Brooklyn Museum

Art Museum · Brooklyn, New York

The second-largest art museum in New York City, in a McKim, Mead and White building of 1897 that was designed to be four times the size it reached — Brooklyn was annexed by New York the following year and the money went elsewhere. It holds one of the great EGYPTIAN COLLECTIONS in the Western hemisphere, the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center with Judy Chicago's The Dinner Party permanently installed, and a collection of American art that predates the Met's.
