Bryant-Denny Stadium
Stadium · Tuscaloosa, Alabama
The home of University of Alabama football, opened in 1929 and expanded so many times that almost nothing of the original stands, sitting at the centre of a town that reorganises itself around seven Saturdays a year. It carries the names of a university president and of Paul Bryant, and the statues of the coaches who won national championships stand outside the north end. On a game day Tuscaloosa becomes one of the largest concentrations of people in Alabama, and the Walk of Champions two hours before kickoff is the ritual worth arriving for.
