Buddy Holly Center

Specialty Museum · Lubbock, Texas

A museum in a former railway depot in Lubbock devoted to the town's most famous son, who wrote and recorded a catalogue that reshaped rock and roll and then died at twenty-two. It holds his Fender Stratocaster and the black horn-rimmed glasses recovered from the 1959 crash site, and the street outside is named Crickets Avenue.

⚠ HOURS AND ADMISSION ARE NOT STATED HERE — I could not verify them. Check buddyhollycenter.org before travelling; city-run museums in this region commonly close Mondays. ⚠ THE BUDDY HOLLY STATUE AND WEST TEXAS WALK OF FAME OUTSIDE ARE FREE and always accessible, so a stop is worthwhile even when the museum is shut. Photography may be restricted around personal effects — ask at the desk.
