Buffalo Bill Center of the West
Smithsonian Affiliate · Cody, Wyoming
Five museums under one roof in Cody, founded in 1917 to preserve the legacy of William F. Cody and grown into the most complete museum of the American West in the region. The Buffalo Bill Museum tells his story and the Wild West show that made him world-famous; the Plains Indian Museum holds one of the country's important collections of Plains peoples' art and belongings; the Whitney Western Art Museum hangs Remington, Russell, Bierstadt and Moran; the Draper Natural History Museum walks you through the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem; and the Cody Firearms Museum is built around the Winchester factory collection.
