Casino Resort On The Las Vegas Strip, Opened 1966; The Colosseum Theatre And The Forum Shops · Las Vegas, Nevada

Caesars Palace is a casino resort on the west side of the Las Vegas Strip, opened in August 1966 with a Roman theme of columns, fountains, marble statues and cocktail servers in togas, and it is probably the most famous name in the history of Las Vegas casinos. Evel Knievel crashed trying to jump its front fountains in 1967, world title fights were staged in its grounds, Frank Sinatra and his circle played its showroom, and the film The Hangover made it familiar to a new generation. Today it is a sprawling complex of several hotel towers, a large casino floor, the Colosseum theatre that hosts star residencies, the Forum Shops mall with its painted sky ceiling, the Bacchanal buffet, a string of celebrity-chef restaurants and the Garden of the Gods pools. Walking the Forum Shops, the statuary and the casino floor is free. It is owned by Caesars Entertainment, charges resort and parking fees, and is so large that getting lost inside it is part of the experience. It stands on the corner of Flamingo Road opposite Bellagio.

NO OPENING TIME HERE WAS CHECKED. The typical pattern: the casino, lobbies and hotel are open 24 hours a day, every day. The Forum Shops usually open from mid-morning to late evening, with later closing on Friday and Saturday, while restaurants and bars inside keep their own hours. Bacchanal Buffet serves set meal periods and closes between them. The pools usually open from mid-morning to late afternoon in season. The Colosseum is dark on many nights between residency runs. The traps that ruin a day: assuming the Colosseum has a show every night, walking to a Forum Shops fountain show that no longer runs, arriving at the buffet between meal periods, and finding the pools closed out of season. Confirm current times before relying on them.
