Camden Hills State Park

Subnational Park · Camden, Maine

Five and a half thousand acres of hills rising straight out of Penobscot Bay above Camden, with a paved auto road to the summit of Mount Battie and a stone tower at the top. The view over the harbour, the bay and the islands is the one on every postcard of the mid-coast, and Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote "Renascence" after climbing it as a teenager.

280 Belfast Road, Camden, Maine, 04843, United States

Open year round, with a state park entrance fee charged in season. ⚠ THE AUTO ROAD TO THE MOUNT BATTIE SUMMIT IS SEASONAL, generally May to October, and closes for winter and for ice - which matters because the road is how most visitors reach the view. The campground is seasonal and books out. Trails are open all year.
