Camp Adventure Forest Tower

Hourglass Shaped Observation Tower Opened In 2019, Reached By A Treetop Walkway Through The Gisselfeld Forest, With A Spiral Ramp To A Viewing Platform About 45 M Up · Ronnede, Region Zealand

Camp Adventure Forest Tower is an hourglass-shaped observation tower in the Gisselfeld Kloster forests near Ronnede in south Zealand, roughly an hour south of Copenhagen. Opened in 2019 and designed by the Danish architects EFFEKT, it is reached by a treetop walkway that climbs gently through the beech and oak canopy, and then by a spiral ramp that winds around the tower's timber and steel lattice to a viewing platform about 45 m above the ground. From the top you look across the forest, the lakes and fields of south Zealand and, on clear days, towards the distant coast. It sits inside Camp Adventure, a large commercial climbing park, so the tower is a paid attraction rather than a free public lookout. People come for the unusual architecture, the easy walk that almost anyone can do, and the forest colours in autumn. The honest caveat: it is a modern tower, not a historic site, the ticket is not cheap for a walk of an hour or two, and it gets busy at weekends and holidays.

The forest tower is open all year on a pattern of daily opening in the main seasons, longer hours in summer and shorter daylight hours in winter, with occasional closures in storms or icy conditions for safety - check the current schedule and the last entry time before you set out. The treetop walk and tower are included in one ticket, which can be bought at the entrance or online; online booking is sensible on summer weekends and school holidays. By car it is about 70 km and roughly 50-60 minutes from Copenhagen on the E47 southern motorway, leaving towards Ronnede, with a paid car park at the site. By public transport, take a train to Koge or Haslev, then a local bus towards Ronnede and walk or take a taxi the last few kilometres - confirm routes and times.
