Canaan Valley Resort State Park

A state-run ski area, lodge and golf course in Canaan Valley, a broad high valley at around 3,200 feet that is a National Natural Landmark and among the highest valleys of its size in the eastern United States. It is a cold sink that holds snow when everywhere else in the mid-Atlantic is wet, and the national wildlife refuge protecting the valley floor is next door.

Park open year round, free to enter. Ski season roughly December to March; golf, chairlift and summer activities roughly May to October. April and November are shoulder weeks with most operations closed.
