A Large Lake Park In The Boreal Transition Forest With Sandy Beaches, A Campground, Golf, Boating, Fishing And Trails. A Holiday Lake For Saskatoon And Prince Albert Families, With A Resort Village On Its Shore · Candle Lake, Saskatchewan
Candle Lake Provincial Park lies in central Saskatchewan about 100 km north-east of Prince Albert, reached on Highway 120 from the south, where the farm country gives way to boreal forest and the first lakes appear between stands of jack pine and aspen (confirm distance). Candle Lake is a large lake with long sandy beaches, several campground areas, a golf course and a resort village on its shore, and for Saskatoon and Prince Albert families it has long been the northern holiday lake of choice. Walking trails, boat launches and fishing for walleye and northern pike round out a long list of summer activities, while autumn brings calm days and a good chance of northern lights. A park entry permit is needed for day use, and camping is booked through Saskatchewan Parks (confirm all fees and dates). The village on the shore makes it easy for first-time visitors, with shops, rentals and restaurants close to every beach.

Candle Lake is open all year, but the beaches, campgrounds, park office and most resort services follow a summer season that generally runs from about the May long weekend to the end of September, with the busiest weeks in July and August (confirm). Day use follows daylight, and campers follow the check-in and check-out times set at booking. In winter the highway stays open, but many businesses close, trails are used for skiing and snowmobiling when snow allows, and ice fishing draws local anglers once the ice is safe. Staff answer the phone mainly in the summer months.
