A Cliff Top Lighthouse On The Fundy Coast With A Beach Of Fossil Bearing Shale, A Zipline, Rappelling And Rock Climbing Programme And Views Over Chignecto Bay. A Summer Activity Stop Near Fundy National Park, With High Tides And Fossil Hunting · Waterside, New Brunswick

Cape Enrage is a cliff-top point on the Chignecto Bay arm of the Bay of Fundy, near Waterside in Albert County, New Brunswick, where a lighthouse has stood since 1838 on a headland named by early French sailors for its rough water. Today the point is run by a non-profit group as an adventure centre, with a zipline, rappelling and rock climbing programme on the cliffs, a cafe, a gift shop and an interpretive display in the light station (confirm). Below the cliff a beach of dark shale and stone is exposed at low tide, with fossils in the rock and a wide view of the world highest tides, which here range about twelve metres or more. The setting is open and windy, with Shepody Bay to the east and the coast of Nova Scotia visible across the bay on a clear day. It is a popular half-day stop near Hopewell Rocks and Fundy National Park, seasonal and busy on summer weekends, with fees for the activities and a small charge at the gate.

Cape Enrage keeps a summer season, generally from about mid May to mid October, with daily hours that run from late morning to late afternoon in the shoulder months and longer in July and August (confirm dates and times). Zipline, rappelling and climbing sessions run at fixed times and need booking in peak weeks. The beach can be visited only at low tide, so check the tide table before you go. Outside the season the road may still be open, but the gate, cafe and programmes are closed and winter weather can make the cliff paths unsafe. Daylight lasts until about 9 pm in June.
