Carowinds
Theme Park · Charlotte, North Carolina
A four-hundred-and-seven-acre amusement park on the North Carolina and South Carolina line just south of Charlotte, opened in 1973 and now owned by Six Flags. The state line is painted through the main entrance plaza and runs across the park, so you can stand with a foot in each state - which is the detail everybody remembers. It is the largest theme park in the Carolinas and its roller coasters, particularly Fury 325, are the reason enthusiasts travel for it.
