Carter Mountain Orchard
Orchard · Charlottesville, Virginia
Six hundred acres of apples and peaches on the mountain next to Monticello, worked by the same family since 1912, with a farm market and a cider bar at the top. People come to pick, and then discover that the actual product is the view — the orchard looks west over Charlottesville to the whole Blue Ridge, and the Thursday sunset evenings in summer are the busiest thing that happens on this mountain.
1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, Virginia, 22902, United States
Generally open daily with a much shorter week in deep winter. Picking seasons: cherries late May to June, peaches July to August, apples late August to early November. Peak autumn weekends have required paid parking or timed entry.
