Cave Point County Park

Cliffs · Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin

A short stretch of Door County shoreline where Lake Michigan has undercut the dolomite into sea caves and blowholes, so that in any kind of swell the water goes into the rock and comes back out as a boom you can feel through your feet. It is nineteen acres, it is free, it has no gate and no staff, and it is the most photographed place in the county. It shares a boundary with Whitefish Dunes State Park, which is where the car park overflow ends up.

5360 Schauer Road, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, 54235, United States

Open daily, year-round, free, with no gate — generally dawn to dusk as a county park. No staff on site. The small car park fills on summer days and in autumn colour season; overflow parks in Whitefish Dunes State Park next door, which requires a Wisconsin state park vehicle sticker.
