Centennial Olympic Park
Public Square · Atlanta, Georgia
Twenty-two acres of downtown Atlanta built as the gathering place for the 1996 Olympic Games, on land that had been derelict warehouses and car parks, and kept afterwards as the anchor of the district the city rebuilt around it. It is where the pipe bomb went off in the early hours of 27 July 1996, killing one person and injuring more than a hundred, and the park does not hide that. The Fountain of Rings is the centrepiece and children play in it all summer.
265 Park Avenue West Northwest, Atlanta, Georgia, 30313, United States
Open daily, year round, free, generally 7:00 to 23:00 — it is a public park with no gate. The Fountain of Rings runs programmed water shows several times a day on a posted schedule and operates seasonally. Large events and concerts occasionally close sections of the park; check the events calendar if you are relying on the space.
