Cheaha State Park

Alabama State Park · Delta, Alabama

The highest ground in Alabama at 2,407 feet, on a ridge at the southern end of the Appalachian chain and entirely surrounded by Talladega National Forest. A stone observation tower built by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s stands on the summit, a boarded trail runs out to a clifftop overlook at Bald Rock, and a lodge, restaurant and cabins sit on top of the mountain rather than at the foot of it. You drive to the summit; the walking starts once you are up.

19644 Highway 281, Delta, Alabama, 36258, United States

Open daily year round for a small day-use fee, generally sunrise to sunset for day visitors, with the lodge, cabins and campground open to registered guests around the clock. Summit roads can close for ice in winter.
